I’m in Falls SteakHouse, enjoying a fantastic meal, and the rule I use to stay on track with my nutrition while still enjoying great food is The One Indulgence Rule.
It’s not the entrée that ruins your progress when you eat out. It’s everything around it. It’s the extras.
The One Indulgence Rule means when I go out to eat.
I choose one of 4 options:
Not all!
It’s easy for you to consume 1000–1500 calories in one sitting without realizing it. Most people don’t notice because they eat the bread basket, the app, then order multiple sugary drinks, add a rich dessert, plus the entrée, and suddenly the meal is extremely high in calories.
That’s why eating out can derail progress and lead to food confusion and inconsistency.
So every time you go out, follow The One Indulgence Rule: choose the bread basket, the appetizer, a cocktail, or dessert. Not all four. This allows you to enjoy your meal without sacrificing your strength goals or feeling guilty the next day.
