That doesn't automatically mean you gained fat. Turns out...Your body weight can change from day to day without changing your body fat. That's why one number never tells the whole story.
A salty meal...
A restaurant dinner...
Or a harder workout than usual...
Can cause your body to hold extra water for a day or two.
Coach's Tip:
Don't judge your progress from one weigh-in.
Look at the weekly average, not the daily number.
For many women...
Body weight naturally fluctuates throughout the menstrual cycle.
This is completely normal and doesn't mean you've gained body fat.
Coach's Tip:
Compare your weight during the same phase of your cycle each month instead of comparing random days.
If you ate later than usual...
Had a larger dinner...
Or increased your fibre intake...
The scale may simply reflect that your food is still being digested.
Not body fat.
If you're strength training consistently while losing fat...
You may maintain—or even gain—lean muscle while reducing body fat.
That's why the mirror, your clothes, and your measurements often tell a better story than the scale.
It's completely normal for your body weight to change by 1–3 pounds from one day to the next because of:
Hydration
Glycogen stores
Food intake
Bathroom habits
That isn't fat gain. It's normal physiology.
Don't react to one weigh-in. React to the trend over 2–4 weeks. One number tells you very little. A trend tells you almost everything.
